School’s out: Let’s all rest & relax

Hello and a happy summer to you!

Don’t you just love this time of year? Sun’s out, less faffing in the morning as to what to wear. Plus the extra vitamin ‘D’ infusion we get from broad smiles we receive from strangers, making us all a much happier lot. What’s there not to like?

We also get to pause and reflect on what more we can do to make 2019 a mega success. If you’ve been in the entrepreneurial game for a bit, August can be eerily quiet and I’m expecting it to be even quieter because of the Brexit impasse. Should that be the case, what can we do during this time so to make the rest of the year work for us? Here are my thoughts:-

Rest and relax

Easier said than done, but we really need to find that time to breathe and watch the world go by. It could be on holiday away from home or a road-trip singing out of tune to your favourite songs while your loved ones cringe. I did over 300 miles yesterday and they had to sit through it all. You could just go down the local park in your sunnies, lazing about and watching kids laugh, blow their soap bubbles or chase the ever elusive ice-cream man, who never quite stops at the right spot for them. Does that ring a bell for you? The hope of children can help us reminisce about the era of not caring too much because tomorrow will always provide. Give yourself that place to just be and I’m hoping your mental and physical health will thank you for it.

Map out the next 3 months:

As we gear down, it’s useful to review what’s left and what more we can do. It could be as little as taking a few moments down memory lane to earlier in the year when we were so full of vim to conquer 2019. How far have we come and who can help us get there and then reach out. Please Do not TEXT if you can help it. PICK UP THE PHONE or send an email, at the very least if you don’t have their number. Research shows that it’s easier to say no via text plus it could be a welcome distraction for the person receiving the request. Do make it brief though.

Focus on just one goal:

I know, we have so much to conquer before the year ends but then if we haven’t managed to do any of them by now, what hope do we have in achieving anything before the winter holidays begin? I’m going to focus on one goal and that is to finish my audio book which I’ve been putting off since the hard copy left the printers back in 2017. This time, I will treat it like the big elephant it is, by taking one bite at a time. Perfecting one chapter at a time, not the trying to read the whole book in one weekend.  Which major project are you going to prioritise?

Here is to a chilled out summer with you and yours!
